Feilding High School’s Luther Hirini will be on the reserves bench for New Zealand Schools Barbarians, after Caleb Makene joined the New Zealand Schools team.

New Zealand Barbarians Coach Darren Larsen said the team was particularly strong at both halfback and openside flanker and a couple of tough calls have been made around those positions.

The team was selected based on their performance against Australia when they won 39-21.

“We were thrilled with our win against Australia and the team came together really well. Since Tuesday we’ve been focussing on fine tuning rather than changing or adding too much. We’re confident we’re well prepared to face Fiji, and no doubt they will provide us with a tough challenge on game day.
