Josh Syms continues in 2016

It is with great pleasure to announce that Josh Syms will be continuing on as the Trust House Wairarapa Bush head coach for 2016.

The team enjoyed success in the 2015 Pink Batts Heartland season finishing 4th in the round robin and narrowly losing to South Canterbury in the semi-finals.

The Trust House Wairarapa Bush team has made the semi-finals twice in the last three years and making the final will be a priority over the next couple of seasons.

Wayne Roache the assistant coach will be standing down for the 2016 season for personal reasons.

“Wayne is an amazing guy and losing his services is a blow and the union is grateful for his time and effort.

He was very much an integral part of the change of culture within the team and we are in discussion about keeping Wayne in the fold for future years.

The 2016 season programming is already underway with potential clashes with some high profile teams including a request by the Hurricanes Development team to play Trust House Wairarapa Bush mid-season.

Details are being worked on and we are sure Josh and the team will continue their high level of planning over the summer months.

Any announcement on the assistant coach will be made in the near future.”

Furthermore the WBRU board completed their long term strategic review with representatives from all the stakeholders and clubs over the weekend and the strategic plan for next five years will be outlined in the new year.
