MRS Premier team withdraw

Press Release

Masterton Red Star Premier team withdrawal from the 2019 WBRU Premier competition

The WBRU wishes to advise the Masterton Red Star Club has withdrawn their premier team from the remainder of the 2019 Premier Competition.

The Masterton Red Star Club has a proud tradition and a very strong junior rugby program. The junior club is not affected by this decision.

The competition will now be contested by the seven clubs, which is proving to be very exciting and well contested.

The competition rules state, if a team withdraws from the competition during any round, results, points and points differential statistics from any completed matches involving the withdrawn team will be void.

A new points table will be circulated and reposted at the earliest possible time.

Transfers

We are aware there are players wishing to transfer to new clubs. The WBRU Adjudication Panel will review those transfers on a case by case basis over the coming days or weeks as they arise.

While the withdrawal is unfortunate and disappointing for our rugby community, the people at the Masterton Red Star club have worked hard over the last few years and their efforts should be recognised.

The WBRU will be meeting with Masterton Red Star committee over the next few weeks to assist where we can in ensuring the club maintains its presence in the Wairarapa Bush Rugby Union senior rugby community.
