Coaches & Managers PLEASE note – Referees are being remaindered of the NZRU Directive that it is mandatory (…read compulsory … ) for ALL PLAYERS at every level of rugby in NZ to WEAR a MOUTHGUARD.

The NZRU DSLVs directs that the Referee MUST send a player from the field to get a mouthguard if that player is seen to be without one – if sent from the field this player cannot return to play for 10 minutes and cannot be replaced or substituted for these 10 minutes.

Can we ask all Coaches and Managers to take the responsibility to ENSURE all their players have a mouthguard BEFORE the game – this is a player and team responsibility.

There are no “if’s” or “but’s” – No Mouthguard = No Game for that player !!

PLEASE don’t put it back on the Referee who is between a rock and a hard place …

Dead Ball Charlie’s Highlights

What a classic – Featherston rugby team were all over Marist in the second half and make no bones about this fact – this team will get better and better.
Great to see Puketoi win a classic at Jean street in the last minute.

Enjoyed the East Coast vs Carterton game – good story this Carterton side and I still believe we are heading into a classic second round here – DBC cannot name the top 4.

I want to give a little hats off to the Chanel College 1st XV – this time last year Chanel team was all over the place – what a year and the opportunity to showcase on a Wednesday night are we seeing a shift in rugby at the College – here is a tip for you, DBC reckons there is one kid in that Chanel team who has Super 18 written all over him.
See me in 10 years’ time and I will tell you – ‘told you so”.
