Background Information

Rugby in the Wairarapa is about to make a significant transition towards investing in clubs and participation and moving from a centralised management of the game to growing a wider base of knowledge.

We are looking to employ an individual who has the capabilities to develop and implement strategies which will empower clubs and individuals to grow their knowledge base and deliver significant changes in our approach to how our game is managed.

We envisage the person will develop a three year strategy which will encompass the following goals

2019 Implement Rugby Smart and Small Black program.

 

Develop club coaches to deliver Rugby Smart programs

 

 

Appoint representative coaches for a two-year period

 

 

 

 

Set up and manage fitness training programs for representative players

 

 

Work closely with the Heartland Management team on players performance and strength and conditioning (incl. club and rep game video analysis)

 

Implement representative programs only from U11 to Heartland B’s which compliment and deliver performance outcomes of a winning nature. (Team logistics will be managed internally by other staff)

 

 

 

Appoint College Rugby Administrator and oversee competition.

 

 

Sevens rugby (Men and Women).

 

 

 

Player Tracking and registrations

(Union wide KPI)

All coaches completed courses

 

Target 6 club coaches to train up to deliver courses

 

 

All rep coaches minimum Level 3 qualifications and have monthly meetings to discuss progress of teams and players.

 

Develop a structured plan with monthly reports to board

 

 

Will be S & C coach for Heartland season

 

 

 

 

Set up 3-year representative program which has clear pathways for players to come through the age groups and identifies players progress

 

 

 

 

Implement a college competition which includes Quick Rip, Women’s and 15’s

 

Review and implement a 5- year plan for sevens rugby in the Wairarapa.

 

Co-ordinated approach to tracking player movements, registrations and devising a process to link players to clubs and returning as loan or players of origin.

2020 Build on 2019 goals and increase Club coaches to deliver rugby Smart and Small Blacks to 12

 

 

Full women’s program

12 club coaches who are qualified to deliver sound rugby smart and high-performance coaching skills.

 

Implement – possible summer competition including development women coaches and mangers

2021 Results The outcome we would desire, is to see all representatives’ teams winning their respective competitions

 

Heartland – Meads Cup

Heartland B’s – RDO Shield

Under 20’s – Hurricanes

Under 18’s – Hurricanes

Under 16’s – Hurricanes

Maori’s – Te Tini a Maui

Sevens – Nationals

 Skills and qualification requirement

Pre-requisites

  1. Experience or qualifications in physical education to deliver and monitor strength and conditioning programs. (Including an ability to track and report at board level)
  2. A clear demonstration of presenting to groups and report writing skills (must be of a high level).
  3. An excellent understanding of sports and how competitions run.
  4. How to use data to provide better outcomes and create strategies

Additional skills

  1. Empathy towards the volunteer nature of sport and ability to work through problems over a long period to achieve sound solutions.
  2. Understanding of performance related outcomes.
  3. Must be flexible in nature
  4. Willingness to deliver positive outcomes for our clubs and players
