Team Announcement: Wairarapa Bush Woman to play Whanganui

Assistant coach and Manager, Councillor Brent Gare says “The Women’s side are excited for Saturdays game and boast a side with a great mix of youth and experience”.

“The interest in woman’s rugby is growing in Wairarapa and although we will miss several players tomorrow the skill level and commitment is has been great to see. We hope this game will act as a platform to really get the game growing and going in Wairarapa.

“This year saw The Makoura combined secondary schools team win the Manawatu competition, so it shows the future is bright”. The side is looking forward to the trip to Wanganui’s home of rugby, Cooks Garden, Gare says.

It features some real danger players with the walker girls, Strong ball runner Monique Kloeg, a former Netherlands representative in Annemieke Van Vliet and some hard hitters in the likes Cherie McNamara, Jess Bills and Lucy Dudonski.

The support has been amazing from the Rugby union as well as the Men’s side, Supporters club, Hansells, Ziggy’s Glass and most importantly the players families.

“The Wairarapa Bush women’s side play the curtain raiser to the Men’s game and we’d love your support”. Kick off is at 1pm.
