Sam Doyle (Horowhenua Kapiti representative #1039) was recently diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia, a type of cancer that affects the bone marrow and blood.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Makaore Beavan Wilson, Rahui Football and Sports Club Club Captain said, \u201cSam Doyle is a huge part of the R\u0101hui and \u014ctaki community. He has been a loyal club member since he was young, and he is one of our most successful and respected representatives. Over the years, Sam donned the red and blue for our premier side in 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2012. He also coached 1st XV rugby in the community and has been our Premier Coach for the last two years. We are proud to have Sam as a leader within our club, and R\u0101hui will support him and his wh\u0101nau 110%. We would also like to acknowledge the tautoko\/support of the HKRFU, WRFU, and MRU for this event, it is greatly appreciated. Nei r\u0101 ng\u0101 mihi nui ki a koutou.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">The PGG Wrightson Cup will be played for between Horowhenua Kapiti and Wairarapa Bush. Wairarapa Bush are the current holders of the Cup after beating Horowhenua Kapiti in Masterton last year. Wairarapa Bush Heartland Team Manager Shay O\u2019Gorman is looking forward to an exciting day of rugby.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">\u201cFrom our point of view, we are very excited to be involved in the fixture, to be supporting the cause for Sam, and to continue the great relationship we have with Horowhenua Kapiti. It made perfect sense to have the day at \u014ctaki Domain, his home ground. Sam has been a huge part of our rugby community for a number of years and we\u2019re really looking forward to a great day in \u014ctaki. With Sam playing for Manawat\u016b, Wellington and Horowhenua Kapiti among many other teams, this will be a special day for Sam, his wh\u0101nau, and the \u014ctaki community,\u201d said Horowhenua Kapiti Rugby Football Union Chief Executive Officer, Corey Kennett.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">\u201cI\u2019d like to thank Rahui RFC and all the teams involved,\u201d Kennett said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">The Mitre 10 Cup pre-season game is a week out from the start of the Mitre 10 Cup and both the Turbos and Lions will be looking for momentum heading into their campaigns.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Manawat\u016b Rugby Union Chief Executive Shannon Paku feels honoured to be part of the day. \u201cManawat\u016b Rugby are grateful to be able to play a part in helping Sam, Tracey and the wh\u0101nau through these challenging times. As a Hato P\u0101ora College old boy, Freyberg RFC and Manawat\u016b Rugby rep at various levels, Sam will always be part of our Manawat\u016b Rugby community. While representing Manawat\u016b he was selected in the NZ Colts, NZ Divisional Team &amp; the NZ Maori All Blacks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">The Turbos are honoured to be playing the curtain raiser for Sams&#8217; Day in his home town of \u014ctaki. We wish him all the best with his battle and recovery.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Wellington Lions Manager, Mila Poutoa, is excited for the Lions to play on a unique occasion. \u201cOur Wellington Lions are ecstatic to be a part of Sam\u2019s big day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Sam played four seasons with Wellington and managed to attain 30 caps for the Lions during that time.
