Wairarapa Bush Heartland Coaches Appointments for 2014
PRESS RELEASE 26th November 2013
Wairarapa Bush Heartland Coaches Appointments for 2014
On behalf of the Wairarapa Bush Rugby Union it is with pleasure to announce the reappointment of Mark Rutene as Head Coach of the Trust House Wairarapa Bush Heartland team for 2014.
Paddy Gough has been reappointed as Assistant Coach.
Gavin Hodder is reappointed as Manager.
An in-depth review had been undertaken and while there was great disappointment not to have advanced to the finals in 2013 the feedback from all involved in the campaign showed that there was good support for the team and management.
Clearly the last two seasons has seen the team fall short at the business end and Mark has been given the opportunity to get us over the line in 2014.
There is strong determination within the team and we also recognised that there has been a build-up of depth and culture within the Heartland team over the last 3 years and hopefully this can accumulate into a championship winning side for 2014.
The WBRU is also reviewing the representative teams under the Heartland side. There will be a greater emphasis on the age grade teams and giving them better opportunities to play on Memorial Park and wider competitions.
The B’s and Under 20’s side looks to be combined in 2014 after a review with the other Hurricane Heartland Unions.
There is a bit of work to be done but a new format may come out in 2015 which could include the remaining two Heartland teams in the North Island King Country and Thames Valley.
