May 22nd Newsletter
The latest Wai-Bush Newsletter is now out with plenty of information about the happenings in our Province.
JAB News
A request to all coaches and managers of the various JAB Teams to get access to the JAB delegates manual. This is a well thought out document that provides flexibility particularly in the area of player numbers and game time. If a club cannot field a full team in a particular grade the game can still go ahead with the cooperation of coaches. The key word used is maximum. Coaches of U 13’s based on player numbers may agree to a 10 aside game based on numbers available on the day. They may decide this game be 20 minutes each way and this is perfectly acceptable under the JAB rules. Flexibility and cooperation will ensure we meet the needs of children playing sport. When a study was carried out of children and their reasons for playing sport they cited 3 key points
- Fun
- Play with friends
- Learn new skills
Winning was 6th on the list. When adults completed the same survey they rated winning in the top 3. If our trainings and games achieve the 3 main reasons why kids play sport I am sure our retention rate will be high and indicate a successful season for Coaches, Managers and Players of all JAB teams
