For the next few weeks, we are going to post up old team rugby photo’s on Facebook and see if you can name as many of the players.

Start sending in a team photo of the past with no names attached and we will select a photo every couple of days and post up.

Send entries to tony@waibush.co.nz

Entry is by naming the most players in the comment’s column.

NAME THE PLAYERS: Chanel College 1st XV 1982.

Some clues. There is one former All Black, a nephew of a famous All Black, a brother of some famous Wairarapa Bush players, a couple of now prominent local business people in the Wairarapa and three brothers.

In 1982, Rathkeale College went to the top four and featured the O’Rourke brothers, Peter Smith from Martinborough, now famous Chef Al Brown and future Hurricanes CEO, Malcolm Holmes.

Wairarapa College had future All Black Lawrence Hullena and every Rutene family member in the Wairarapa was in the backline.

Makoura College had one of best young halfbacks, Toi Walker and Kuranui College was led by their talented forward Phil Adamson. Tararua College had several future rep players and the only win Chanel College had in 1982 during the combined 1st XV and Under 20 grade, was a 6-4 win over Tararua.
