Farriers Wairarapa Bush v Horowhenua Kapiti
Kick Off 2.30pm
Message from Wairarapa Bush President, Doug Bracewell
Welcome to Carterton Rugby Football Club grounds for this game against Horowhenua Kapiti. Thank you to the Carterton club for accommodating us at this late stage when the Turf Trust decided in their wisdom to allow a club football game to play instead of a traditional representative rugby game, that incidentally had been booked on the turf.
The Wairarapa Bush team are to be commended for the way in which they have played this season with three games and three wins – we are hoping of course that this will carry on today. It has been wonderful to have a series of games to allow our local players to play in a representative competition with other teams which are comprised of local players too.
A reminder that the Wairarapa Bush Club Awards evening is on Tuesday 13th so please book your table. This is a highlight of what has been a highly successful club season. It is remarkable that we are able to do this. COVID changed many things for all of us and I am thrilled with the way in which our rugby community have reviewed and adapted and made the season work for them and the players.
Lastly, I want to thank the Wairarapa Bush office staff as well as volunteers, coaches, managers, and referees. We are so blessed with the committees and teams of people working for the good of rugby in our province.
Message from Wairarapa Bush Chairman, Jason Carruthers
What a great game we support!
Take all the half-truths and those who don’t know the ins and outs of what caused the breakdown in communication in who should or shouldn’t be playing at the park this weekend out of the mix and we are left with our very loyal staff and supporters. Thank you.
Thank you too, to the Carterton club for filling the breach for today’s game.
Today we play Horowhenua Kapiti in what is game four of five games this season and we are 3 zip already. I think this has been a great season all round compared to what could have been when we were staring down the barrel of a COVID gun.
Coach Joe and his assistant coaches Deon and Joe have done great things with this team and they are to be applauded.
Enjoy this game – it is the last home game until next season.
