Roddy McKenzie (Rest in Peace)
Roddy McKenzie (Rest in Peace)
It is with great sadness to hear of the passing of Roddy McKenzie (Life Member of Wairarapa Bush Rugby Union).
On behalf of the WBRU community, our thoughts and prayers are with the McKenzie family during this time of sadness.
Roddy was a larger than life person who not only coached the Wairarapa Bush A team for two seasons, his passion for rugby in the community was inspiring to us all.
Roddy became President of the Wairarapa Bush Supporters Club and under his leadership, the Wairarapa Supporters Club is well-known as the must pro-active and largest within the Heartland Unions.
Roddy had many stories to tell but he would always love to tell a joke during his after-match speeches in the Gravel Pit.
Roddy will be missed by us all and there is no greater honour in our union to be awarded a Life Membership, however Roddy was also an active Masterton District Councillor in the 1990’s and was involved in many projects around Masterton which the community has benefited from over the years.
Through his drive and personality, Roddy McKenzie always keep rugby at the forefront of our supporters and clubs, and we thank Roddy for being a passionate and dedicated Wairarapa Bush member.
