Tanya Dearns appointed as the new Chief Executive of Wairarapa Bush Rugby Union.
It is with great pleasure to announce Tanya Dearns as the new Chief Executive of the Wairarapa Bush Rugby Union.
The Wairarapa Bush Rugby Union Board is thrilled to have secured the services of Tanya Dearns as its new Chief Executive. With an extensive background in sports administration across multiple codes and a proven track record of success in the Heartland rugby environment, Tanya is an exceptional addition to the team.
Currently serving as the Chief Executive of the Mid-Canterbury Rugby Union, Tanya brings a deep understanding of the Heartland rugby landscape, in which Wairarapa Bush proudly competes.
During her tenure at Mid-Canterbury, she has overseen significant growth in player participation, particularly among teenage boys and women & girls, and led the union to a successful 2024 Heartland campaign.
“It’s an absolute privilege to join the Wairarapa Bush Rugby Union as Chief Executive,” Tanya said. “I’m passionate about the Heartland rugby environment and look forward to building on the incredible work already happening within the community.”
Tanya is a former NZ Silver Fern (31 caps) and also has an extensive netball coaching background, including having served as the Head Coach of the Pulse Netball team in New Zealand and the Sirens in the UK Superleague.
She will commence her new role on 22nd April 2025.
