New 2024 Premier Club Rugby Competition

The WBRU Council of Clubs are pleased to announce a new format for the 2024 Premier Club Competition after reviewing the 2022 and 2023 season post COVID.

The WBRU Council of Clubs recognizes that the landscape of club rugby is continually changing and therefore must be proactive in the approach to how rugby is delivered in the region.

The new format will see all 12 clubs having an opportunity to enter into one full round of games (commencing the first week after Easter 2024) and then splitting into a top 5 Championship round, with the top 5 teams playing one full round to determine the semi-finalist who will then contest the Chris “Moose” Kapene Cup, while the teams ranked 6 or lower will play off in a second division competition.

There will be no promotion/relegation games from 2024 as all clubs will be able to enter into the round robin competition in 2025.

The final format, draw and dates will be determined once clubs have confirmed their entry into the 2024 competition by 4 March 2024.
