Wairarapa Bush Appointments

Cameron Hayton – WBRU Rugby Manager (new role)
Thomas Ralls – WBRU Rugby Development Officer

After a review of our Strategic Plans (2023 to 2027) and with the continual changes in the NZ rugby landscape, we have some changes to our staff structure to support the delivery and growth of our women and junior rugby.

With women and junior rugby growing and the demand for more performance related investment at all levels of the game, we have taken some time to review our delivery.

It is with great pleasure to announce that Cameron Hayton will take up a new role as WB Rugby Manager, and will oversee all our rugby program for coaches, all representative teams (below Heartland), the pathway program, women, and junior rugby.

Cameron Hayton started as our Rugby Development Officer (2019) and under his leadership, the improvement of rugby across the union has seen some outstanding achievements. By creating the Rugby Managers role, we will be able to inter-link all our programs.

Thomas Ralls has been appointment into the Rugby Development Officer and will assist in the delivery of the operational side of our junior rugby, women’s development games and plans. Thomas  brings enormous experience in the digital world of rugby as part of the team of video analysts for the Highlanders and Otago. Thomas attended Rathkeale College and currently resides in Greytown after completing his Sports Science degree at Otago University.

While we will all miss Scott Collins at the union when he leaves soon, we believe the calibre of both Cameron and Thomas will more than continue the great work already in place.

Both Cameron and Thomas start their new roles on 19 February 2024.

Scott Collin’s final day will be 23 February 2024.
